From Monday 26 June, the second edition of the international summer school \u2018Energy-efficient construction, users and environment friendly \u2018 will start at Bialystok University of Technology. It will be attended by 26 students from Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Peru, Mexico and Pakistan. They will participate in a programme of interdisciplinary classes at the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, study visits to the Bia\u0142ystok Power Plant and Nibe Biawar, as well as cultural workshops and trips to the most beautiful parts of Podlasie.<\/div>\n

This is the second international summer school organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences with the support of staff from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer Science at Bialystok University of Technology. Specialists from foreign partner universities are also involved in the teaching process. The whole project is organised thanks to funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange in the SPINAKER \u2013 International Intensive Programmes competition and European Union funds from the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme.<\/p>\n

The programme of the summer school focuses on energy-efficient construction, which is a response to the need to introduce ecological and low-cost user- and environment-friendly solutions. Under the guidance of specialists from Bialystok University of Technology and partner universities, foreign students will gain knowledge and skills in creating low-energy buildings. They will work in interdisciplinary teams. This year\u2019s edition will bring together students from such specialisations as: architect, constructor, sanitary installation engineer, power engineer, electrical installation engineer and automation engineer.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We focus on increasing students\u2019 skills and preparing them to build their careers on the international labour market, \u2013 says the project coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at Bialystok University of Technology. \u2013 My observations show that students are usually well prepared in terms of theory. However, it is more difficult for them to translate their knowledge into practice. That is why the idea of the teachers involved in the summer school is to put practice first. In international teams, where we have students from different disciplines and specialities, the participants undertake so-called case study projects. They learn that in order to design an energy-efficient, ecologically and technically effective building, one has to think holistically and interdisciplinarily,<\/em> \u2013 explains Assoc. Prof. Dorota Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng.<\/p>\n

On-site classes at Bialystok University of Technology will take place from 26.06 to 08.07.2023. The course will be complemented by online classes. As part of the project\u2019s activities, study visits to Nibe Biawar and Bia\u0142ystok Power Plant are planned, where students will be able to gain the necessary practical knowledge.<\/p>\n

Cultural workshops and excursions to towns and cities in our region are also planned for the participants of our project. They will go to Tykocin and Suprasl, where they will be able to learn about the culture and nature of Podlasie.<\/p>\n
