Prof. Lech Dzienis awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa
14-10-2022From 7-11 October 2022, Professor Lech Dzienis participated in the jubilee events of the 100th anniversary of the Georgian Technical University (GTU). As part of the jubilee events, the scientist from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences and the Rector of Bialystok University of Technology from 2012 to 2020, was awarded the dignity of Doctor Honoris Causa of GTU. By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Georgian Technical University, the DHC titles were received by six other persons, representing international partner institutions, in addition to a representative of our university.
Professor David Gurgenidze, Rector of the Georgian Technical University, while presenting a diploma of Doctor Honoris Causa and a gold medal of the 100th anniversary of the GTU to Prof. Lech Dzienis, emphasised his significant contribution to promoting the long-standing cooperation between Bialystok University of Technology and the Georgian Technical University, his scientific and technical support for Georgian doctoral students and his special contribution to the internationalisation process of the Georgian university.
On 9 October, Prof. Lech Dzienis took part in a ceremony during which the President of Georgia, Her Excellency Salome Zurabishvili, and the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, David Gurgenidze, opened a hall named after the great Georgian public activist, publicist and politician Niko Nikoladze – the initiator of the establishment of the Georgian Technical University. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Georgian Technical University ended with a concert in the Great Concert Hall of the Tbilisi Concert Hall.
The Georgian Technical University is a partner university of Bialystok University of Technology – one of the most serious partners of Bialystok University of Technology in its efforts to obtain grants from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange: under the Academic International Partnerships programme, as well as from the PROM programme. In 2021, in recognition of his contribution to science and enhancing cooperation between universities, Bialystok University of Technology awarded Professor David Gurgenidze the title of Honorary Professor of Bialystok University of Technology.
