Another success of our scientists from the Institute of Forest Sciences!

We are proud to announce that the National Center for Research and Development as part of the “Solidarity with scientists” program awarded Dr. Yauheni Yurchanka from the Department of Silviculture and Forest Utilization
at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences with a grant of PLN 250,000
for the research topic entitled: ” Assessment of the potential of corticoid fungi as a source of substances acting against bacteria accompanying respiratory diseases and causing co-infections, e.g. in the course of COVID-19 ”
Mr. Dr. Yauheni Yurchanka is a mycologist, one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of corticoid mushroom research,
as well as the discoverer of fungi species new to science. The result of the project will be the identification of species of fungi whose bioactive substances can constitute the basis for the creation of new antibiotic products that could be used, inter alia, in COVID-19 patients.
The project will also be realized by Dr. Ewa Zapora and Marek Wolkowycki and Fungi Extract Bank – Bank Ekstraktów z Grzybów.
