Positive assessment of PKA of the education process in the field of Spatial Economy
31-10-2022
On 23 June 2022 the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) has issued a positive evaluation of the educational process carried out in the field of study Spatial Economy, first and second cycle studies. This field of study is taught at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences of Bialystok University of Technology.
The Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee stated that the educational process in spatial economy enables students to achieve the assumed learning outcomes. What does this mean in practice?
– The positive opinion of the Polish Accreditation Committee on the process of education in the field of study spatial economy is very important to us, and we perceive it as appreciation of our work. It proves the high quality of education we offer to our students. – says Małgorzata A. Lelusz, PhD, Eng, Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences of Bialystok University of Technology.
The PKA’s opinion is not only a confirmation of the high standards of education, but also a tribute to the work of the lecturers, who are responsible for creating a programme tailored to the expectations of students and the labour market.
– The educational programme in spatial economy is unique in the country. It is not only related to economics, but has been assigned to 3 disciplines: civil engineering and transport (the leading discipline), environmental engineering, mining and energy, as well as architecture and urban planning. Such an approach to teaching content was inspired by the specific nature of our region, which is characterised by a large area of agricultural and forest land and, at the same time, a large area of protected areas, as well as dispersed development and a small number of large urban centres. – explains the Vice-Dean.
This field of study is unique not only because of its interdisciplinary profile, but above all because of the efforts to meet the needs of the socio-economic environment. As a result, the qualifications of the graduates are adapted to the increasingly demanding national and European labour market and enable adaptation in related professional sectors. Such an educated workforce can support the economic development of both the region and the country.
The developed modern education model is proving its worth, which is confirmed in the recruitment process. Each year, spatial economy attracts candidates to study. Currently, there are around 200 students enrolled (first and second cycle studies).
Congratulations on your success and thank you everyone whose commitment has contributed to this significant achievement.
We wish you the best of luck in the next programme evaluation of the spatial economy field of study, which is scheduled for the academic year 2027/2028.
